CamFam Summer Updates :)

Did you know that June 20th was the official first day of summer, 2025? I don’t know about you, but it’s felt like summer for a lot longer than that now in the South!

Camp Firefly:

My family and a few close friends recently got back from Georgia, where we had the blessing of hosting 6 precious families at Camp Firefly. Camp Firefly is a camp my wife, Chelsea, and I started 36 years ago for terminally-ill children and their families. We feel so grateful to experience this amazing, miracle-filled week with these families every summer, enjoying bike rides in the azalea and magnolia tree  forrest, pool time with the kids, Mexican piñata fiestas, Hawaiian beach luaus, tubing and waterskiing, a wild animal safari, mom’s “Queen For A Day” head-to-toe makeover, dad’s golf, burgers and bro-time, a butterfly pavillion adventure, quiet conversations, prayers, and more!

Like I said, this is our 36th year of Camp Firefly, and we can’t thank our supporters enough for their kindness and generosity that allows us to give this gift to over 200 families from  St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Buffalo Children’s Hospital, and others.

A biblical alternative to traditional healthcare:

One thing the world needs a LOT more of—in so many areas—is Christians banding together to share each other’s burdens and further the kingdom of Christ. This is EXACTLY why, a few years ago, I switched my whole family to Christian Healthcare Ministries! I love the philosophy of CHM in that it’s based on this principle. Every month, I know my contribution is going to pay the medical bills of my brothers and sisters in the family of faith. I love knowing that other CHM members who are sharing my bills are also covering me in prayer!

All the way around CHM gives me top-tier support, is easier on my bank account, and when an eligible medical bill occurs, they are always so kind and helpful throughout the sharing process—very unlike the often cold, uninterested, and rude people I've interacted with at traditional insurance companies.

I wholeheartedly recommend looking into CHM for yourself and seeing the options they have perfectly suited for you and your family!

Something to think about:

This month, I’ve been reading some of C.S. Lewis’ work and have been deeply blessed by his insights. In his book, “The Four Loves,” he makes a commentary on idolatry, saying that “We may give our human loves the unconditional allegiance which we owe only to God. Then they become gods: then they become demons. Then they will destroy us, and also destroy themselves. For natural loves that are allowed to become gods do not remain loves. They are still called so, but can become in fact complicated forms of hatred.”

This was a poignant reminder of the disastrous consequences that come from putting anything or anyone in the place that only God Himself should occupy in our lives and hearts. Even seemingly good things can become evil things if they do not first come under the authority of Christ.

MONUMENTAL 2:

Last, but not least…

I’ve begun pre-production on MONUMENTAL 2, as the sequel to Monumental! Historical wisdom says most world powers have a 250 year expiration date. 2025 is America’s 250th birthday. Will America outlive its expected demise? If so, how? Where is the hope?

MONUMENTAL 2 will be released next summer/fall!
