Most of my life, I haven’t participated in lent, but in the more recent years, it’s become something I recognize great spiritual value in. Lent is a period of physical and spiritual preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter.

On the cross, when Jesus said “It is finished,” it was an invitation for us to live in response to his permanent victory over sin and death. As Christians we are to stand in that victory, radiating the love, service, hope, comfort, and peace of Christ to the world. This is what the practice of Lent is meant to foster.
