September: A Turning Point

I'm sure you felt it too. Last month CHANGED things...

The Turning Point:

My friend, Charlie Kirk, was a man who stood boldly for truth, for righteousness, and for freedom. He was a powerful FORCE for Christ. A man the world could not afford to lose… Yet in the weeks following his horrific assassination, the impact of his life and death has sent giant ripples of revival across the country and even the world.

I’m reminded of something my friend, Joni Eareckson Tada, said after the diving accident that resulted in her paralysis. “Sometimes God allows what he hates to accomplish what he loves.”

I feel a personal responsibility to carry the torch that Charlie passed to us all and to honor his life by continuing the spread of the gospel—applied vigorously to all arenas of life.

Of all the many things I’ve’ve learned from Charlie, right at the forefront certainly must be this: The family of faith cannot just be content as spectators watching on the sidelines with our head in our hands, praying for God to zap us up to heaven asap, crying in our Chick-Fil-A soup while the world gets worse. We absolutely must engage! We have got to be those foot soldiers, on the ground, advancing truth and light into the darkness. Wholeheartedly committed to bringing heaven to earth. That is exactly who Charlie was and who he inspired millions of others to become.

I shared more of my thoughts on what Charlie’s life and death means for all of us here in this video…

Mini road trip with my wife:

I got to spend a few awe-inspiring and soul-soothing days in Yosemite Valley with my beautiful wife, Chelsea. We were reminded of God’s power, his peace, and the purity that comes from living life WITH him and not in rebellion to him. I pray for everyone to know that feeling. God. Family. Nature. True Joy. True rest.

A biblical community:

Christians everywhere are being challenged to REALLY place their faith at the center of their lives, in every arena—professionally, relationally, politically, intellectually, physically, etc. For me, this also looks like making sure that I am not giving my money to companies who may use it in ways that go against my beliefs as a Christian. This is exactly why I switched my family away from traditional health insurance and moved instead to Christian Healthcare Ministries. CHM is a biblical alternative to traditional healthcare. It is a family of faith actively committed to bearing one another’s burdens and encouraging health and holiness through Christ. Not to mention it often saves me as much as 50% on medical bills that otherwise would be lining the pockets of giant healthcare lobbies. I highly encourage you to check out the options that CHM has specifically suited for you and your family today! Just click on the link I’ve provided below to learn more.

Voddie Baucham:

This month, earth lost yet another mighty man of God in Voddie Baucham, but heaven gained a true good and faithful servant. Voddie was a pillar of truth, humility, strength, and godly leadership. He spoke the truth in love and was committed to keeping the gospel pure, not just palleatable.

I agree that this quote inspired a wave of parents to take back their God-given leadership over their families. It inspired thousands to homeschool their children and raise them up in the way God says they should go, not the way the government says they should go. Faithful fathers and mothers stepping up to lead their families, instead of offloading their authority/influence to public schools that are actively opposed to God and His ways.

Here is a powerful sermon from Voddie that I think everyone should watch, along with a book of his I recommend every parent read…

I am deeply thankful to men like Voddie, John Macarthur, Charlie Kirk, Phil Robertson, James Dobson—all of whom we lost this year—for their example of what it looks like to be a true man of God—a humble, convicted, unwavering leader for truth and love. May we all reflect on their lives and legacies, carrying on the gospel mission they devoted their lives to.

God bless you!
